I’ve noticed something really interesting about the way we say “prestar” in Spanish compared to English, and it completely changes who is doing the action.
In Spanish, people usually say “¿Me prestas…?” or “¿Me dejas…?”
But in English, we switch the focus: “Can I borrow…?”
Not “Can you lend me…?” (even though it exists), but “Can I borrow…?”
It’s a subtle but fascinating difference.
In English, the speaker takes responsibility for the action — I’m borrowing it.
In Spanish, the action sits with the other person - you lend it to me.
Anyway, I won’t ramble on.
As you can guess, today’s challenge is all about borrow and lend—how to use them correctly, naturally, and confidently.
