Challenge #013

“Ayer me robaron.”

Unfortunately, this sentence is heard far too often in Spain these days.

If you’ve lived in Barcelona long enough, you’ve probably heard it (or even said it) more times than you’d like.

But how do we say this correctly and naturally in English?

Is it steal or rob?

What’s the right structure?

And why do so many Spanish speakers get it wrong, even at an advanced level?

In this video, I explain exactly how these two verbs work, when to use each one, and (just as importantly) when not to use them. No theory for the sake of theory, just real, everyday English.
